John and Jeff Inch are among the most prominent − and polarizing − builders and developers in York County. Like them or not, there's no denying their tremendous impact on the landscape of Central Pennsylvania.
The Inch brothers were home-schooled kids who learned the landscaping business from their dad. Now, these 30-somethings own and run Inch & Co. −with a landscaping company, development company, property management company, construction company and more.
They have been buying land and repurposing properties at a fast rate, despite some opposition from residents such as plans for a warehouse or other industrial development next to historic Prospect Hill Cemetery. They have also proposed a new sports facility at the site of the former Central York athletic field in North York.
They've restored the iconic Elmwood Mansion, given away hundreds of thousands of dollars to local organizations, and expanded to new markets, including Cumberland and Franklin counties, Maryland, and even North Carolina. Their signs are everywhere, and there is barely a week that goes by that the brothers don't make the news in some way or another.
